REGION INFORMATION
SESFONTEIN
Sesfontein derives its name from the six fountains which have their source in the vicinity. Fort Sesfontein, erected in 1896
as a police outpost by Schutztruppe soldiers of Imperial Germany. The fort was reconstructed in the 1990s and is now
equipped to accommodate tourists.
PALMWAG
Palmwag an oasis and a tourism concession area on communal land in northern Namibia. Wildlife in Palmwag includes
leopards, lions, cheetahs, mountain zebras, giraffes, springboks, kudu, and desert elephants.
WARMQUELLE
Warmquelle is a spring in the desert area of northwestern Namibia.
TWYFELFONTEIN
The site has been inhabited by hunter-gatherers and Khoikhoi herders. Both groups used it as a place of worship. In the
process at least 2,500 items of rock carvings have been created. One of the largest concentrations of rock petroglyphs in
Africa, UNESCO approved Twyfelfontein as Namibia’s first World Heritage Site in 2007.
